What Are Cookies (and Things Like localStorage)?

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store, usually so the site can remember something about your visit — like whether you've been there before, or basic statistics about how the site is used. Cookies are typically sent back to the website's server on later visits.

localStorage works a bit differently: it's a small storage area built into your browser, tied to the website's domain, that lets a site remember a setting on your own device. Unlike a cookie, it isn't automatically sent to any server — it just sits in your browser until the site reads it again or you clear it. Because it still stores information about you on your device, we're disclosing it here for the same transparency reasons we'd disclose a cookie.

What This Site Actually Uses

We keep our use of cookies and storage deliberately narrow. Here is everything idream.com.cy sets, grouped by purpose:

Analytics — Google Analytics 4. We use Google's gtag.js script to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit the site, which pages they look at, and roughly where traffic comes from. This sets cookies in the _ga / _ga_<container-id> family. These cookies identify a browser as a returning visitor for statistical purposes; they are not used to build advertising profiles.

Preference — theme choice. When you switch between light and dark mode, we save that choice in your browser's localStorage under the key idream-theme, so the site remembers your preference the next time you visit on the same device and browser. This is not a cookie and is never transmitted anywhere — it stays on your device.

What we don't use: we do not use any advertising, marketing, or retargeting cookies. Nothing on this site is used to serve you ads elsewhere or to sell or share data with ad networks.

Third-Party Content: Google Maps

Our Contact page embeds a Google Maps iframe so you can see our office location in Larnaca. That map is served directly by Google, not by us, and Google may set its own cookies or use its own storage when the map loads, under Google's own privacy and cookie policies — not ours. We don't control what Google does with that data. If you'd rather not load the map, you can view our address in text on the Contact page instead.

Being Honest About Where We Are Right Now

At the moment, this website does not show a cookie-consent banner when you arrive. In practice, that means if you browse idream.com.cy, the Google Analytics cookies described above may already have been set on your device before you had a chance to accept or decline them.

We're not going to dress that up. As a company based in Cyprus, an EU member state, we operate under the GDPR and Cyprus data protection law, and we know visitors are entitled to clear, upfront choices about analytics cookies. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with Cyprus's data protection supervisory authority, the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection, if you feel your data protection rights haven't been respected. This page is our current way of being transparent about exactly what's set and why, while we work on it. How to Control or Delete Cookies

You are always in control of cookies through your own browser. Every major browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, etc.) lets you view, block, or delete cookies for individual sites or across the board, usually under Settings > Privacy or Settings > Cookies. Deleting cookies for idream.com.cy will remove the _ga / _ga_<container-id> cookies; you can also block cookies from this site going forward if you prefer.

Clearing your browser's site data will also remove the idream-theme localStorage entry — the site will simply fall back to its default theme until you choose again.

To opt out of Google Analytics specifically, across any website that uses it, Google provides the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, which you can find by searching for it from Google and installing it in your browser. Once installed, it prevents Google Analytics scripts on any site — including ours — from sending visit data.

Changes to This Page

We may update this Cookie Settings page if the cookies or storage we use change — for example, if we add a consent banner, change analytics tools, or add new features that store information in your browser. Any changes will be posted on this page, so it's worth checking back occasionally.
